I am 38 years old, and cannot remember a time when I didn't worry about fitness and diet. My adult years have been spent losing weight, then gaining it back, then starting the cycle over again. In my fittest times, I competed in road races and triathlons, only to get burned out and stop moving completely.
Last September, I went on my yearly women's beach trip to Orange Beach. I felt so uncomfortable the entire trip. I also had friends express concern over possible sleep apnea. I was at my heaviest weight EVER and knew I had to make a serious change.
When I returned from the trip, I weighed in at 326 lbs. I began a 24-day challenge and saw results. I also started going to Crossfit Cayenne in Abbeville. The 24-day challenge made me learn to portion control, and CrossFit was EXACTLY what I needed to stay active. The gym members became family, and It reminded me how strong I was (and how strong I WAS NOT)
In March, I competed in the Reebok Crossfit Games Open with my gym CrossFit Cayenne. Those 5 weeks were so amazing, and it was amazing to see what my body could do when it was fueled with the RIGHT foods!
In July 2017, I felt I needed re-focusing. A co-worker asked me if I wanted to do The Whole30 with her. No added sugar, no grains, no dairy, no alcohol, NO CHEATS....for 30 days!!! I agreed....and it was, by far, the easiest meal plan I have EVER followed. Ridding the body of all those things changes more than just the physical health.
I am now on round 2 of the Whole30. And today, I am down 45lbs since I got back from that beach trip last September.
I'm hoping this motivates someone and reassures people that it CAN be done. It doesn't have to be complicated or even expensive!
Hard work pay's off
"Hey, guys my name is Brittanie Reynaud,
I'm super excited to tell you about my journey here at Crossfit Cayenne! I am a wife and a mother. My kids are ages three and one. My husband works out of town and is only home one week out of the month and I work full time as a dental assistant! I always thought between work and the kids I didn't have time to go to a gym. Finding a sitter was even trickier. I found out about CrossFit Cayenne from a patient of mine at work. While we were talking about it, she told me they provided childcare during your time there and that they offered different classes throughout the day. That was the deal breaker for me, I had no excuses left to give! I was unhappy with my body and health and knew it was time for a change. I was SO scared my first day of boot camp. What if I can't do this workout? What if someone judges me? What if I fail? These were all the thoughts that went through my head, but I showed up and I did it! Through the whole workout, I was encouraged to keep going and that I was doing a great job. The next day I was sore, like couldn't sit, walk, or move, sore! I kept going every day consistently and never gave up! The soreness went away, I got stronger, and the friendships got greater! Going to Crossfit Cayenne is just part of my routine now, I feel so much better, full of energy, and confident that I CAN do anything I put my mind to! The coaches are amazing. They take the measures to make sure you are being the best you can be, they push you when you need it, and always make sure you are doing it safely and correctly! It's amazing what your body can do when you nurture it! It's all about taking that first leap of faith after that it's all uphill from that point! I hope this inspires anyone who is scared to make the first move. Fitness is a lifestyle and a journey! Everyone is on it and just working on themselves to be a little bit greater than they were yesterday!"
